Cloud service for SME/SoHo

Telefonica has launched a cloud service with Private Planet and NEC providing easy and secure sharing and publishing with tools to enhance communication and information management for small businesses.

MyCloudPlanet is aimed at small businesses and has been developed to offer the type of ‘industrial strength’ tools more usually found in larger enterprises with corresponding large budgets. Using the Private Planet personal server platform, MyCloudPlanet offers a comprehensive set of cloud based services including file sharing, storage, web publishing, device to device access, address book and calendar synchronisation in addition to a device independent back-up and recovery utility.

Importantly, Telefonica is able to offer the service at a highly competitive price point whilst maintaining the highest standards of support and reliability.

The objective of the service is to complement Telefonica’s offering through the Applicateca marketplace service portfolio, enhancing existing and new customers’ communication and sharing experience coupled with creating a new value-added revenue stream.

Private Planet was selected for a number of reasons – including:

• A true ‘white label’ service with the opportunity to brand the service for each customer
• Tight integration with Telefonica’s billing and customer care systems
• Platform-neutral availability including iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows PC, Mac etc
